​When we think of the symbolism and meaning of Lord Narsimha (a deity from the Vedic tradition… and each deity represents a cosmic energy form)… we realize that when extreme detrimental behaviors become the new-norm, and people are selfish and violent… then there is a phase of even worse fierceness, before things are set back to serene calmness.

 ​In general it is a good idea to keep a calm head and think things thru before acting, but particularly over the next few day… atleast for a few weeks ahead, be sure to keep a calm head. Do not let external events shake you up… but think thru carefully to see how you can best act in any given situation to bring about the best results… for yourself and others!

Even though, as humanity or should I say conglomerate of nations, we are shifting back from globalization to nationalization, we still need to remember that if we are connected… not because of economic or political affiliations but because that is the nature of Nature!

As always lunar eclipses occur on a full moon day and this time around it falls at a particularly potent time! Astronomically it seems like a fascinating phenomenon where we can observe the otherwise bight white full moon turning dark and then a deep blood red.

Energetically speaking, those who are sensitive to cosmic energy changes can feel these energy shifts days and sometimes even weeks in advance. There have been many strong energy pattern changes in recent times, and we can already observe their effects in the ever-turbulent world around us! 

When these happen at an individual level, it can lead to accidents, misunderstandings, arguments and even fights. When such thoughtless actions happen at a larger scale, we can see rifts between nations and mass movements of crowds in a certain direction, leading to riots and even financial markets crashes or short frothy rise!!

In a few hours, we are going to experience a very powerful lunar eclipse. Moon represents our mind, rightly called as the manas… which represents a deeper concept, that I will address in another post. As we find our mind coming under the “grasp” of strong forces, indicates that it is very possible that we feel strong, sudden urges to think and act in ways that are very atypical for us. It also leads to rash, thoughtless behaviors.

So, what can we do to protect ourselves during this and for that matter every lunar eclipse? The best thing to do is to be observant of one’s own internal working. 

Watch your thoughts and emotions- is this really how you are feeling (then there should be a deep real cause) or are you reacting to something/someone and are coming under the influence/grasp of surrounding forces? 

Take an extra moment and think thru before saying or doing anything. Under the turbulent energies of a lunar eclipse, it is very possible that your actions are thoughtless and rash, which you will later regret. So best to breathe deep, take a few minutes to clearly think thru before taking any actions particularly when it comes to important situations like your relationships, finances and so on…

Lunar Eclipse is a great time to forgive and forget the past… It is time to bless all that has been in your life. Those things, situations, and people who you feel have completed their run in your life… it is time to let them go… Not with anger or regret… not with pain or grievance, but with love, joy and gratitude.

​Everyone who is in our life, and everything we experience is for a reason. Our own karmas have manifested them in our life. When this is about pleasant instances, that is not much of a problem. Though, even here, many a times, people get too attached to the good and do not trust that their future could be even better- filled with even more joy and wellness. 

As for the unpleasant people and situations… what is the point in being angry or upset at them. This does not mean you condone the situation or the wrongful acts of the perpetrator, it simply means you “choose” to bless that situation with forgiveness and gratitude… and leave it behind. This way, you can lessen your own burden and walk further along your path of spiritual development with fortitude and resolve.

Take atleast five minutes each and every day, to offer gratitude and say 'thanks' to those who served and made it possible for you to live the day. It could be the delivery person, toll-booth clerk, or the person who served you coffee... 

Each one of them in their own way, made it possible for  you to live the day. We all are spokes in this grand Wheel of Life- we are all connected!

We are progressing towards a very powerful Lunar Eclipse on May 26, 2021. The exact time of when this eclipse will be visible will depend on your location. As we know, lunar eclipses happen during a full moon. And this eclipse is happening on the auspicious day of Buddha Purnima, which is the day Gautama Buddha attained his enlightenment- from Gautama, he became The Buddha, the enlightened one!

There are many factors which makes this a very intense lunar eclipse. For starters, it is a blood super moon. Which means the moon is much closer to the earth, making it appear much larger than usual. This larger than usual moon is called as a Super Moon. Since it is a total lunar eclipse, the shadow over the full moon, will make it look blood red in color- thus the name, blood super moon!

So, what does it mean for all of us? Every full moon is the time of fruition of certain aspects of our life and the time to let go of others that we deem as no longer serving our greater life-path. And when full moons are also accompanied with a lunar eclipse then, it becomes a powerful time to release old baggage!! This could be in terms of things that we no longer use, it could be emotions that have festered in our heart for too long and now need to be purged, or it could also mean… letting go of people and situations that are detrimental to your overall well-being.

So, for this powerful blood super moon lunar eclipse, make a firm decision, a Sankalp- to let go of all that is no longer fortifying your life. If it is something that has served you well for a long time, but you have simply out-grown it (object or situation), then thank it for the benefits it has brought into your life and helped you to get to where you are in your life-path.

​You may be finding that starting these last couple of weeks, you are finding it harder to maintain balance and cordiality in relationships and your interaction with other people such as our family, friends, coworkers and even just in general- people we meet casually during the day!!

What I mean by that is?? Let’s say you are buying your weekly groceries and usually you greet and chit chat with the teller as they ring up your items. But, you will find that for some ‘strange’ reason they are not as ‘friendly’ as they usually tend to be. They may seem to be in a little bit of an off mood and it is not as pleasant of an interaction for you as it usually tends to be…

Now, if you are following our usual behavior of conscious and aware observation then you will not react to it… BUT if not, it is very much possible that their standoffish behavior will upset you or make you angry. Then this anger will probably reflect in your own actions, which may further make that other person feel more upset towards you!! AND so on… this negative spiral continues…

Right now the energies are such that it is somewhere asking each one of us to reflect deeply into what we feel… deep within our heart- not just about the usual things like family, relationships, career, money and so on… but deep in our heart- what are we really feeling about our own self!! 

Our self-view of who we are… what we truly believe… and most importantly, how are we adding value in this world? How are we being of service to our near and dear ones, our community and also the greater world at large??

From now, until mid-October, be very conscious and aware of your emotional state of mind. If you are feeling great, then really introspect and ask yourself- what is it that is making you feel good. And in case, you are feeling low, depressed or angry, then again reflect and ask yourself the real cause behind your thoughts, feelings and emotions. 

Now, do not simply say- well I am feeling low because I miss this person or that I am feeling angry because this person was rude to me- probe and ask further questions to arrive at the deep, real reason.

Now, even though this person who is dear to you may not be around or that someone did behave in a rude manner with you… the reality is…  if you are truly feeling complete and content within your own self, then you will not feel low. You will continue to do all these other things that you enjoy and the fact that this dear person is not around, will be more of a simple fact than something which is influencing your mood or emotions!! See what I mean??

​Similarly, someone may have behaved in a rude way- but that just speaks about them?? Why are you reacting to it?? Is it because somewhere deep down you are questioning your own self-worth and being slighted by this person, just highlighted your own deep feelings of worthlessness??

As we know all the people we meet are always going to be at various levels in their evolution. So, make sure that you do not get ensnared into any unnecessary arguments or carry any ill-feelings towards anyone. Instead, utilize this time to reflect within and truly find out- why you are behaving, reacting the way that you are…

IF you do this, and to the extent that you are truly and deeply able to do this… it will help to pave the way to the wonderful success that the rest of this year and what 2022 and following years can bring into your life…

In today’s times when we there is so much of anger and unrest in the world, it becomes even more important to keep in mind this invaluable lesson from Jesus.

It is the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant, which is also known as the Parable of the Ungrateful Servant and it appears in the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament of the bible. According to Matthew 18:21-35, it indicates the importance of forgiving others, so that we are also forgiven by the Divine for our own mistakes and trespasses!

This parable was told by Jesus Christ as an answer to a question by Peter (one of his key apostles) about forgiveness…

After narrating this parable, Jesus explained to his dear apostle- Peter, that the Kingdom of Heaven is also very similar! If we seek forgiveness for our mistakes, sins, and trespasses from God, our father in heaven, then it is imperative that we show kindness, mercy, and compassion to those who have wronged against us.

It is not for us to judge if their mistakes are big or small… what we need to do is show love and compassion, so that we in turn can receive love, kindness, compassion, and forgiveness from the Divine!

I hope this parable touches your heart.

Remember that even though we may think of ourselves as quite flawless, the reality is that we each have committed many mistakes and trespasses. Before we can expect the Divine to forgive our terrible sins, it is important we show kindness to his people, by forgiving those who have wronged us. If there is anyone against who you harbor anger or resentment, then forgive them… if you feel someone has deeply wronged you or terribly insulted you, still forgive them… forgive them, so you too can be forgiven!

I am bringing you this teaching-message here so that, it helps us to address some of the pressing needs of our current time- not just the time and situation we are in, but for the things that could be coming up in the days (and weeks, months) ahead for all of us- collectively as a society. 

Of course, any changes, any action we take is always going to be as an individual… after all, each one of us as individuals ultimately make up the collective- this could be our immediate society, region, country or the world at large.

St Catharina (also called as St. Catherine) has an amazing story and the narrative almost seems too unbelievable at times- but it clearly exhibits how with her belief and surrender to Lord Jesus, she was not only able to bear intolerable circumstances, but rise from those situations with grace and victory.

Whenever we think of these medieval saints, the one thing that immediately comes to mind, is the fact that, back in those days, the society was very intolerant of other faiths. It could be the Christians being intolerant of the Pagans or it could be the Catholics being intolerant of the Protestants and so on. 

Why I am bringing this up is because, in a strange way, that kind of strong, almost fanatic opinions are again on the rise. We find that there is a much stronger and deeper divide between people- that seems to be widening the gap between various groups within our society. 

Now, this divide may not as much be about religion as it was back then, but now, it is possibly about race, language, a person’s country of origin or some other aspect.

But the reality is that we are all children of the same God- our creator. We may think of him and/or pray to him (or her, or both- if we want to be politically correct :-)) with different names or in different ways- our prayers, our rituals could be different, but it is the same God. 

Also, when people are faced with tough times, emotions tend to run high and usually we find people exhibit more anger, intolerance and impatience.

Tough times are precisely when we need to strengthen our belief, our commitment to the path of conscious and aware living and seek more strength, help and guidance from the divine. It is when we need to show more love and compassion to those who are worse affected than us and at the same time, feel a level of loving comfort and support, that the Divine providence will take care of us.

St Catharina asks us to seek Divine help to address any and all of our challenges. This prayer is not where we are simply seeking, asking for favors- but it is where we are truly committed to our path of ascension and spiritual living. 

This is when our prayers are a way of communicating with the Divine and we think of divinity, not as someone “high” up there- but it is genuine and real. The Divine is someone with whom we have a true and deep relationship.

In this regards, St Catharina almost reminds us of Radha, the divine consort of Lord Krishna. Radha always felt totally immersed and engrossed in her divine love for Lord Krishna.

St. Catharina is asking us to develop such a relationship with the Divine. She is also asking us to face any challenges that may come up in our life with a brave face, with complete trust and belief in the Divine. Do the actions that are necessary with love and compassion- but surrender to the Divine will and trust that ultimately you will be provided for by the Divine providence.

Also, when we have people with strong minds, with set beliefs and there is much strife in this world, it is important to develop our ability to persuade others. We need to work on our communication ability, our skill to speak and work with others in the best possible way and with minimal friction! This way we will be able to accomplish simple as well as difficult tasks with great love and compassion. 

Such a scenario will ultimately help to bring more joy and goodness in this world- to the one performing the act and the one benefitting from such a divinely guided action.

I am writing this post a bit stunned by the news of this K-drama celebrity, Song Yoo-Jung. It seems, she was found dead at 26 in her Seoul apartment. The cause of her death has not been disclosed, though there are many articles online about it possibly being suicide as has been the case with a spate of several incidences in the Korean entertainment industry in recent times.

Now, I am not very familiar with the k-entertainment industry. In fact, until this past November, I did not even know that k-drama existed on a global platform. But because of a particular individual (who is from that industry) with whom I feel a deep connection; I have been trying to get myself more acquainted with the Korean culture, dramas and music.

Today, for some strange reason, I felt something was energetically off and made a google search about Korean entertainers committing suicide (something so very strange and atypical for me to do!!) and came across the news of this lady’s death!! I wish peace and solace to her soul. I am sure her family and fans are finding it hard to grapple with this news- I pray and hope that they find the strength and courage to assimilate this experience.

It is always shocking when we hear of such news- what is it that drives one to such extreme measures? When it comes to celebrity lives, even though at an apparent level they come across as happy with everything going well for them, if we really perceive the energy beneath their veneer then many of them seem to feel a complete sense of void and fear. 

Before I could gauge people’s energies, I used to see celebrities and have a typical view of their ‘successful life’. But now, as I can sense their deeper feelings- beyond what they portray for the camera, many of those in public limelight- have such deep pain as part of their mental-makeup and un-expressed fear deeply ingrained within them, that instead of feeling appreciation or envy for the position they hold in society, many a times- I feel a sense of genuine caring and sadness (at the irony ) when I see them!!

Probably their success which makes them the object of envy, also happens to be the reason, they are not able to easily trust anyone- after all, how could they be sure that people are not approaching them for their own covert reasons!! What a challenging space to be in… where we reach a level of success in life where the very stature that we worked so hard to accomplish… seems to captivate us. 

This reminds me of an art card, I had made several months ago- where I had shown a beautiful natural scenery in the background with a nice house in the mountains and a sharp barbed wire fence in the foreground with the caption saying- what protects us also has the potential to imprison us!!

It is important to be aware of people’s intensions when they approach us. It is also important to ensure that we protect our own interests… but at what point do we stop ourselves from becoming so concerned about ‘others’ that they start to dictate our behaviors! We need to ask ourself- why do we live our life from ‘outside in’ where what is going on around us tends to determine what is happening within us- instead of from ‘inside out’- where we take charge of our inner wellbeing and then act from that inner sense of centered calmness.

Taking one’s life is a very drastic measure, it is not just a crime (in most countries) in the legal sense, but also a crime against humanity. What kind of space have we created as a society and as individuals- where people feel so hesitant to reach out to another that they feel it is less painful to take such a cruel, drastic step!!

Every other day, we read these wall-posts on social media, stating that if you ever need to speak to someone, then feel free to reach out. But do we as individuals really pay attention to those who are around us? The most “expensive” thing that we can ever give anyone is attention, as it is time- the one aspect of life which can neither be bought nor created!! We all have a certain measure of it available to us. Surely, we can increase our availability of time with efficient use of our resources and well managed activities, but we cannot create or trade it- no matter the extent of our wealth.

My main reason to write this post is to re-bring this point to everyone’s notice. With many people couped up in their homes for very long periods of time, with media constantly bombarding us with shocking world news, with the world economy on the brink of a challenging twist… it is very much possible that many people who have typically managed to curb their fearful instincts, are now feeling a sense of apathy and hopelessness.

If you are someone who is feeling low or know of someone who may be experiencing such a situation then please, try your best to ensure that they get appropriate guidance and help. Issues like depression or mental trauma are completely ignored in many cultures across the world. Unfortunately, there is a stigma attached with it- which deters people from reaching out. But mental health and any related issues can not only have serious repercussions, but they can many a times be life-threatening. So, it is important that we stop judging and stigmatizing people’s challenges- be they physical, emotional, or mental- any such ailment should be addressed with the same level of care and support.

If someone reaches out to you- a friend, a family member, a coworker or even a complete stranger- make it a point to really look at them with genuine caring attention and smile with your heart in it. Let your smile reach your eyes! Many a times, all it takes is a genuine, heartfelt smile to deter someone and bring them back from their mental world of dreadful thoughts!!

There are so many instances where people have later confided that during their trying times, it was that one stranger on the street who looked at them with such genuine caring that they felt a renewed sense of hope and possibility.

As those who are on this journey of living a conscious and aware life, let us re-new our commitment to each other and to humanity- let us pledge to bring joy, caring and hope to not just those who reach out to us but to all in general. Let us ensure that genuine love and caring reflects in all that we say and do in our daily activities and all our interactions. May the Divine bless us to fulfill our pledge. Amen…
