We are approaching a very powerful annular solar eclipse in a few hours. It is particularly potent, given that it is falling on an especially powerful new moon day (Shani Jayanti).  Shani Jayanti is celebrated as the assigned birthday for Lord Saturn. In several mythologies and as per many ancient ways, Lord Saturn is known to mark time- cosmic time as well as our time here on earth... and because of this, he is also the one who dispenses the fruits of our actions!!

This upcoming solar eclipse will bring many profound changes on a personal and global front, and it is important to wisely spend the eclipse time to pray and seek divine guidance.  As always, full, and new moons provide us an enhanced opportunity to connect with the cosmic energies and with it also being an eclipse, the portals to higher dimensions can open up that much more easily for the true seeking heart.

Here is a short, but powerful prayer for this upcoming annular solar eclipse...

On Thursday, we are going to have a very powerful annular solar eclipse and it is also the day of Shani Jayanti! For those who may not be as familiar with the astrological concepts, Shani Jayanti is considered as the birthday of Lord Saturn and this is the graha (planetary entity) that is responsible for dispensing the fruits of our karmas, i.e., our actions- the positive as well as the negative ones.

It is fairly rare that both these events occur on the same day and considering many other special cosmic alignments, this eclipse is going to bring out deep and profound transformations at many levels of our personal and collective experience.

It will be a time, not just the day of the eclipse, but several days and months following the event, where each one of us are going to be impacted in a deeply spiritual way. Our deep beliefs, concepts, and our very way of thinking and processing all that goes on around and to us, will drastically change… for the better!

Ultimately this change, these transformations will be for the better- but considering the fact that most people are too attached to their ‘existing way of life’, even if it is problematic and painful… and because of their unwillingness to change, in the initial stages the events following the eclipse may bring about a sense of fear and dread and then slowly… as people learn to cope with the situation, transform their thinking and change their response… slowly we will see a shift and rise in global consciousness.

Traditionally, several activities and rituals are performed on any solar eclipse day. You can read about them in my previous articles (mentioned below). In addition, during this specific eclipse, make it a point to spend some time in meditative contemplation, where you are mentally reviewing where you are in your life. Do not focus on just one pressing aspect like career or relationship but view your life as if you were watching a movie (where you happen to be the main protagonist).

Are you happy with who you have become? Where you are currently in your life? What would you like to be different? If you had a magic wand that allowed you to re-write the screenplay of your life-movie, what parts would you change and why? Can you now introduce some of those positive-changes, new life-edits?

If you did not have negative emotions like fear, lack and so on… what would you do differently about your life? How would you live differently? Spend some time to contemplate on these points. Also, spend as much time as possible praying and connecting to the divine. Eclipses provide us a more open portal where we can easily connect with the Universal energies as well as the cosmic realm beyond. It provides us an easy opportunity to obtain divine grace and blessings!

​Today is World Environment Day... when we look at the deforestation statistics, it is just plain appalling!!

It seems 4500 acres of forests are cleared every hour by forest fires, bull dozers, machetes etc. as per the information provided by www.conserve-energy-future.com/various-deforestation-facts.php  The total world forest loss till date is 7.3 million hectares per year.

I hope, today we all can make a stand that we will support nature- in our own little or big way.

We are progressing towards a very powerful Lunar Eclipse on May 26, 2021. The exact time of when this eclipse will be visible will depend on your location. As we know, lunar eclipses happen during a full moon. And this eclipse is happening on the auspicious day of Buddha Purnima, which is the day Gautama Buddha attained his enlightenment- from Gautama, he became The Buddha, the enlightened one!

There are many factors which makes this a very intense lunar eclipse. For starters, it is a blood super moon. Which means the moon is much closer to the earth, making it appear much larger than usual. This larger than usual moon is called as a Super Moon. Since it is a total lunar eclipse, the shadow over the full moon, will make it look blood red in color- thus the name, blood super moon!

So, what does it mean for all of us? Every full moon is the time of fruition of certain aspects of our life and the time to let go of others that we deem as no longer serving our greater life-path. And when full moons are also accompanied with a lunar eclipse then, it becomes a powerful time to release old baggage!! This could be in terms of things that we no longer use, it could be emotions that have festered in our heart for too long and now need to be purged, or it could also mean… letting go of people and situations that are detrimental to your overall well-being.

So, for this powerful blood super moon lunar eclipse, make a firm decision, a Sankalp- to let go of all that is no longer fortifying your life. If it is something that has served you well for a long time, but you have simply out-grown it (object or situation), then thank it for the benefits it has brought into your life and helped you to get to where you are in your life-path.

​You may be finding that starting these last couple of weeks, you are finding it harder to maintain balance and cordiality in relationships and your interaction with other people such as our family, friends, coworkers and even just in general- people we meet casually during the day!!

What I mean by that is?? Let’s say you are buying your weekly groceries and usually you greet and chit chat with the teller as they ring up your items. But, you will find that for some ‘strange’ reason they are not as ‘friendly’ as they usually tend to be. They may seem to be in a little bit of an off mood and it is not as pleasant of an interaction for you as it usually tends to be…

Now, if you are following our usual behavior of conscious and aware observation then you will not react to it… BUT if not, it is very much possible that their standoffish behavior will upset you or make you angry. Then this anger will probably reflect in your own actions, which may further make that other person feel more upset towards you!! AND so on… this negative spiral continues…

Right now the energies are such that it is somewhere asking each one of us to reflect deeply into what we feel… deep within our heart- not just about the usual things like family, relationships, career, money and so on… but deep in our heart- what are we really feeling about our own self!! 

Our self-view of who we are… what we truly believe… and most importantly, how are we adding value in this world? How are we being of service to our near and dear ones, our community and also the greater world at large??

From now, until mid-October, be very conscious and aware of your emotional state of mind. If you are feeling great, then really introspect and ask yourself- what is it that is making you feel good. And in case, you are feeling low, depressed or angry, then again reflect and ask yourself the real cause behind your thoughts, feelings and emotions. 

Now, do not simply say- well I am feeling low because I miss this person or that I am feeling angry because this person was rude to me- probe and ask further questions to arrive at the deep, real reason.

Now, even though this person who is dear to you may not be around or that someone did behave in a rude manner with you… the reality is…  if you are truly feeling complete and content within your own self, then you will not feel low. You will continue to do all these other things that you enjoy and the fact that this dear person is not around, will be more of a simple fact than something which is influencing your mood or emotions!! See what I mean??

​Similarly, someone may have behaved in a rude way- but that just speaks about them?? Why are you reacting to it?? Is it because somewhere deep down you are questioning your own self-worth and being slighted by this person, just highlighted your own deep feelings of worthlessness??

As we know all the people we meet are always going to be at various levels in their evolution. So, make sure that you do not get ensnared into any unnecessary arguments or carry any ill-feelings towards anyone. Instead, utilize this time to reflect within and truly find out- why you are behaving, reacting the way that you are…

IF you do this, and to the extent that you are truly and deeply able to do this… it will help to pave the way to the wonderful success that the rest of this year and what 2022 and following years can bring into your life…

Happy Earth Day everyone!!

Today it is April 22 nd., which is celebrated the world over as the Earth Day, to show our support for environmental protection. With changing weather patterns and annual forest fires, it is more than apparent that each one of us needs to be a responsible citizen of our planet.

Our Mother Earth, Gaia, is kind and bountiful. She is very capable of regenerating and rejuvenating herself- till we do not exploit her resources in the name of progress. We need to practice responsible behavior not just at the corporate level but also as an individual. Each one of us needs to take concrete steps to reduce our carbon footprint!

This year’s theme is “Restore our Earth” … and it is surely high time that we start paying attention to our lifestyle choices and ensure that they are in alignment with sustainable and green living principles!
