When you take time to smell the flowers, it not only refreshes you; but it also provides you a chance to "feel" and be "aware" of all that is going on around you.

Life does not happen in years or months or even days- life happens each moment as we take in our breath!

Enjoy today while you can, since there is no guarantee on how long it will all last...

How to transform from a Caterpillar to a Butterfly? Walking the path of transformation...

3/6/2021

You may feel like a caterpillar but know you are a butterfly. Every move you make does have a ripple effect within this cosmos...

- Juma Vera
We are all connected by invisible strands or quantum strings; called "Yoga Spanda" in ancient Sanskrit. So, when you wonder how your actions can matter in this vast universe- remember that even fluttering wings of a butterfly can create a storm on the other side of our globe.

We are all like pearls strung on the same strand, what happens to one can impact everyone else...
Picture
There are times in our lives when we wonder about the “meaning” (or lack thereof) in our life. As we go about our daily duties, we wonder if any of those actions can impact anyone beyond the few immediate people. Lest do we know the far-reaching extent of our thoughts and actions!!

According to Wikipedia: Chaos theory is a branch of mathematics focused on the behavior of dynamical systems that are highly sensitive to initial conditions. 'Chaos' is an interdisciplinary theory stating that within the apparent randomness of chaotic complex systems, there are underlying patterns, constant feedback loops, repetition, self-similarity, fractals, self-organization, and reliance on programming at the initial point known as sensitive dependence on initial conditions. The butterfly effect describes how a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state, e.g. a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil can cause a tornado in Texas.

So, when we wonder how our seeming small actions can impact the greater good- remember that we are all connected. Each to everyone and everything else forming a web of matter and information- distinct and yet intertwined so that it is affected by the smallest of change.

Knowing this it is very important to carefully choose our thoughts and actions. There is so much pain and misery in our world- with rising anger and violence. Ordinary citizens like you and I may not be warriors on the frontline, but we can help to bring peace and equanimity by exhibiting it in our everyday actions. Being loving or at the very least kind to everyone we interact with, showing grace even when we may feel that the other person is totally out of line- such small actions can play a pivotal role in bringing balance to our increasingly un-balanced social and global environment.

Don't let others draw you into their circus! Instead draw them into your calm... (Think on this… series)

Don't let others draw you into their circus! Instead draw them into your calm...

It takes a lot of practice and tremendous conscious presence to be able to maintain a calm serene presence when surrounded by pain, anger, and drama. But still, try each time you are surrounded by such negativity. As the more you try, the easier it will get.

Conscious Living develops its own positive memory and a new DNA blueprint!

Gaining strength from being flexible... (Think on this… series)

When you first think of wind, it may come across as a very weak force. We typically don’t think of wind as being able to cause much change- but think again!

When wind is directed in a direction, it can become very powerful. The image that immediately comes to mind is of the tall oak which breaks during strong winds whereas the soft and pliant grass, that was able to bend with the currents; continued to stand ground.

A breeze helps with spreading seeds and strengthening the plants to yield better grains. Also, as the plants bend with the currents, they stand tall and stay their ground.

The key wisdom from nature is: when we are flexible, we gain the strength of the wind to accomplish great things.

What can we learn from the Electric Storms? How we can ‘clear the air”!!

2/17/2021

There are many times, when we have many repressed emotions within us, about a situation, about a person or even about how we have dealt/not with a particular issue. Ofcourse the best course of action is to reflect on the situation and then discuss the details with relevant people. If it is something that one has done or wished that one had, then in that case, one can make a mental note to modify their behavior going forward.

Though this would be the ideal situation and proper way to conduct oneself, the reality is that many people do not feel comfortable approaching someone they have a grievance with or a bone to pick! They do not feel comfortable expressing their deeper emotions and feelings. Finally, a point comes when they have bottled those emotions for so long that they simply burst with a barrage of emotions, lashing out and expressing all their pent-up feelings, anger, and frustration!!
Picture
Now, is this good or bad? It depends on how this burst of energy and emotion is conducted. Such outbursts can be compared with electrical storms. Have you ever noticed electrical storms? Even though as they occur, it may seem quite terrifying, atleast to some people, but we find that they help to cleanse and clear the air.

Similarly, on one side, voicing one’s pent-up feelings and emotions can help one to feel relieved and comforted, but at the same time, if it is done it a very cruel and erratic way, where one just bursts on unsuspecting parties, who usually tend to be friends, family, close relationships or even colleagues, then it can lead to deep hurt and broken relationships!

Lightening can strike anytime and usually as this force of nature, it can be very destructive, but when harnessed it allows us to have electricity.

Similarly, even though you may not feel as comfortable to express your emotions and concerns during a calm discussion and because of this you maybe the type of person who needs to feel pent up to lash out, to make yourself heard… see if you are able to harness and steer your feelings in such a way, where you clearly indicate to the ‘offending’ parties that you are reaching your tolerance. And when you do you reach that red mark, instead of just bursting in an erratic manner, see if you can harness and steer your emotions into a well-meaning and respectful conversation.

Ofcourse, do remember that the best way is always to reflect and then approach someone when the issue has just happened, and the incident is still fresh in everyone’s mind. This way, you would have addressed it before it has had a chance to fester within you and the other person would also remember the situation from their near past and be able to respond in a meaningful manner.

What I hope to communicate is that, if calm discussions are not your personality, then there is way that you can still clear the air and feel a level of relief, even as you work on yourself to ensure that you do not let emotions fester within you, which ultimately is very detrimental for your inner peace, overall health & wellbeing, and your spiritual progress.

How to get our ‘ducks in a row’? How can we bring our fragmented parts together to improve our mental and emotional wellbeing?

2/12/2021

Typically, in life, we tend to be so busy that we jump from one situation to another, from one interaction to another, that we do not really take the time to digest any particular situation and truly assimilate it within ourselves.

Now, we all know that if we do not properly digest our food, then it will not only give us indigestion but over time it will affect our entire health. For us to properly obtain nutrition from our food, it is essential that we digest it, assimilate, and take all the beneficial nutrients and then eliminate all the toxins and unwanted aspects. The entire digestive process needs to run effectively for us to maintain our physical health.

Such a similar process is also needed for our mental and emotional wellbeing!
Picture
It is important that periodically we take the time to reflect upon our emotions- i.e., what are we feeling? Are we feeling happy about something, upset about another thing? Do we feel that we have truly been able to express our feeling- if yes then how do we feel about it and if no, then what is preventing us from expressing ourselves and so on…

Periodically, we need to take out the time and check in on ourselves. Many people who are on the path of conscious living & ascension, do this at the end of the day.

They will take some time out and reflect on all that had happened during the day. They will think thru the various events, situations and interactions of that day and then reflect thru to see what learnings they can take away from each of those occurrences.

This also allows us to find recurring situations and our behavioral patterns. By bringing it to the forefront, it gives us a chance to be more aware of our actions as well as our reactions to all that happens within our life. This also allows us to consciously work on removing or at the very least limiting our exposure to toxic people and situations in our life.

With many activities happening in our life, we tend to feel fragmented, as if parts of us have got caught up with different situations and events in our life! When we take the time to reflect on them, it helps us to untangle our involvement and ‘free up’ our fragments and bring them together to make us ‘whole’ again!

To sum it up, by evaluating our actions and interactions on a daily basis, it allows us to get our ducks literally and figuratively in a row! By evaluating and analyzing our actions, we can incorporate practical and sensible remedial measures that ultimately help us to ensure optimal mental and emotional wellbeing.

The importance of nurturing our ideas and dreams… (Think on this… series)

2/11/2021

Today, it is the Chinese New Year! A very Happy New Year everyone!!

Like with all new moon times, it is a good day to put forth ideas and intensions which you want to take root and bear flowers and fruits in the coming time. With it being the start of a new year, today is a good day to set forth your intension for the year ahead. Though, you could do this during any new moon throughout the year.

Do keep in mind that we should set forth our intension once the first sliver of the moon is seen. As we know, moon which is a satellite of our earth, energetically impacts us in a myriad of ways. So, it is important that after the black moon phase (when no moon is visible), when the first sliver of moon is visible, that is the time we choose to set forth our intension. Then as the moon grows over the next 14 days, it will symbolically represent our ideas and wishes growing to maturity.
Picture
Now the next point is, as new ideas, opportunities and people come into your life, how do you intend to nurture them. It is possible that you are thinking of starting something- maybe a new business venture or a side gig, it could even be a thought that inspires you to pursue a more conscious way of living.

We know that plants (like all life forms) need care and attention particularly in the early stage of their lifecycle, where their roots are not as strong. This is also the case with your new ideas and scenarios.

The intension is strong, but the situation has still not taken firm root. Now you need to nurture it and take proper care so that it can deepen and strengthen its roots and evolve in a beautiful creation.

A sapling needs maximum protection when it is very young, it could easily get uprooted if there is a strong breeze, it could easily die if it does not get enough nutrition and it can easily be eaten by worms and insects! But once the sapling starts putting in deep roots and it reaches further into the earth and grounds itself, then slowly it is able to have a repository of sustaining power within itself. Then it can withstand strong winds, a few days without nutrition and so on…

So, as you are putting forth your ideas into practice, take some time to ensure that you are truly nurturing your wishes in the best possible manner. Take care and protect your wishes and dreams from squashing forces like negative thinking and toxic behaviors. Nurture them with positivity, so they can take firm root, develop, and mature into the desired fruitful outcomes.
