How to practice Mindfulness Meditation?

3/6/2023

Mindfulness meditation is a practice that involves training the mind to focus on the present moment, without any evaluation, analysis, or judgment.

Mindfulness meditation is a simple yet powerful technique that can have numerous benefits for your mind, body and spirit.

It involves being fully engaged in the present moment, without worrying about the past or future. It harnesses the power of the present moment… the power of NOW.
What is Mindfulness Meditation?
Mindfulness meditation is a technique that involves focusing your attention on the present moment, typically by focusing on your breath or other sensations in the body. The goal is to become more aware of your thoughts and emotions, without evaluating, analyzing, or judging them in any manner! This can help you become more self-aware and develop a more positive relationship with your thoughts and emotions.

How to practice Mindfulness Meditation?
If you want to try mindfulness mediation, then here are some simple steps for you to get started:
  1. Find a quiet and comfortable space where you can sit and focus on your breath.
  2. Set a timer for a few minutes, to start with, and gradually increase the duration over time.
  3. Close your eyes and focus your attention on your breath. Notice the sensation of the breath moving in and out of your body.
  4. When your mind wanders, as it inevitably will, gently bring your attention back to your breath.

Practice regularly, ideally every day, to develop a consistent mindfulness meditation practice. Start with a few minutes a day and gradually increase the duration over time. With regular practice, you may find that mindfulness meditation becomes an important part of your daily routine.

By reducing stress and anxiety, improving mental health, increasing focus and concentration, and improving physical health, mindfulness meditation can help you lead a happier and more fulfilling life.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a mental state where you focus on the present moment. It is a technique that helps you to calm yourself and control your thoughts. It also helps you to be more accepting and compassionate toward yourself. As a result, you will have more positive emotional health and you will be able to cope with stressful situations more easily.

Self-regulation
Self-regulation is an important part of the human experience. It enables us to respond to situations that we find challenging or upsetting. Ideally, we respond in a way that is in keeping with our values and beliefs.
Having a sense of control allows us to manage our emotions, resolve conflicts and pursue our goals.

Previous research has demonstrated a relationship between mindfulness and self-regulation. However, these studies have been conducted with adults. Moreover, there are few studies that study the effects of mindfulness training on pre-adolescents. In particular, researchers have observed significant improvements in executive functions after mindfulness training.

Accepting yourself and treating yourself with compassion
Self-compassion is the practice of treating yourself with compassion. It may be a small step, but it can help you get through a tough time.

While everyone struggles with self-criticism, it's important to keep in mind that you're not perfect. Accepting your flaws can feel like a weight is lifted off your shoulders. Self-compassion involves treating yourself like a friend. It's about encouraging yourself to grow, not giving up on yourself or your efforts.

Mindfulness is an effective tool for learning to love yourself. It can help you see a situation from a more objective point of view, which makes everything a little easier.

In the context of self-compassion, mindfulness involves a more focused and specific approach to a painful experience. The most common definition of mindfulness is "a non-judgmental, present-moment awareness of thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations". The best way to put it is that it's an important tool to learn how to love yourself. It can help you recognize your shortcomings, accept them, and understand your emotions.
Treatments for anxiety and depression
Mindfulness-based interventions have shown to be effective for anxiety and depression. These approaches focus on core competencies such as attention and processes such as stress. There are a variety of treatments available to manage anxiety disorders, including medication, talk therapy and exercise.

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is one such approach. It seeks to teach people to pay attention and disengage from dysfunctional thoughts. MBCT combines elements of mindfulness training with active recognition of negative thought patterns, which is taught in cognitive therapy.
Misunderstood concept of mindfulness
A misunderstood concept of mindfulness can make you frustrated, discouraged, and even dangerous. The word "mindfulness" has become so widely used that it is almost unavoidable in training courses for personal development and therapy programs. While the term 'mindfulness' has been shown to have significant health benefits, its usage can lead to misunderstandings that can limit its usefulness.

It is important to know that the term 'mindfulness' refers to a broad range of practices. Some are rigorous, others are escapist. In general, mindful practice involves being present and observing one's inner and outer environments.

It is important to distinguish between mindfulness and stress relief. Some people equate mindfulness with stress relief, which undermines the long-term benefits of the practice.

It is also important to differentiate between the acceptance component of mindfulness and the aversion/avoidance components. Most people confuse the two. The aversion/avoidance components are associated with suppression and cognitive reappraisal, which contradicts the volitional processes that underlie mindfulness.

How mindful meditation can positively improve your life experience?

What is Mindful Meditation?

During the past few years, mindfulness meditation has become an increasingly popular exercise. This is largely due to the fact that it can improve both your mental and physical well-being and can help reduce anxiety. It can also increase your immunity and can help boost your spiritual health.

Improve your mental and physical well-being

Practicing meditation and mindfulness has been shown to reduce stress and improve mental and physical well-being.   However, this practice shouldn't replace traditional medical treatment. Rather, it should be a part of your overall health routine.

Meditation can be done for just a few minutes a day, and it can help you to focus better and improve your mental clarity. The practice can also help you improve your sense of self-awareness.

Mindfulness meditation has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety. Researchers have also shown that the practice can help people with depression and insomnia.

Mindfulness can also improve heart health. Stress is associated with high blood pressure, and meditation can reduce this. It has also been shown to improve cognitive function and memory.

Practicing mindfulness can increase the amount of energy you have. It can help you cope with stress and anxiety, and it can help you develop a stronger immune system.
Reduce anxiety

Whether you have anxiety on a regular basis or you just want to reduce it, mindful meditation can help. A new study suggests that it can be just as effective as an antidepressant.

Meditation can be tricky to master. It can be hard to track your time and it can be easy to get distracted by your thoughts. A guided meditation can help you focus on what you want to do while helping you to relax.

If you want to try out meditation for anxiety relief, there are a few steps to take. The first step is to choose a focal point. For example, you might want to focus on your senses of sight, smell, touch, and taste.

The next step is to focus on your breathing. Breathing deeply is important because it regulates your nervous system. Try counting your breaths to ten. Then, notice how you feel while doing it. You can do this while sitting, lying down or even standing in line.

Boost your immune system

Boost your immune system with mindful meditation. Research has shown that it may be an effective way to tame inflammation. Inflammation is an important part of the body's defense against disease, and it can feel like a stuffy nose, a headache, or even a fever.

Research shows that meditation can improve the immune system by activating hundreds of genes involved in the immune response. It also suppresses the protein complex that causes inflammation. It also boosts three important chemicals in the brain.

Meditation may also increase the number of CD-4 cells, which are important helper cells in the immune system. These cells help direct other cells to attack an infection.

Meditation also increases telomerase activity, a gene that helps cells keep their chromosomes stable. Telomerase is important for preventing premature aging. When telomerase is impaired, it can lead to cancer.

Meditation also decreases inflammatory responses in older adults. It may also improve the health of people with multiple sclerosis.

Improve your spiritual health

Investing in spiritual health can help you feel more at peace with the world. A healthy spiritual life will provide you with an internal sense of purpose and a desire to improve the world. Practicing mindful meditation is one way to achieve spiritual health.

The practice of meditation helps to improve your spiritual health and increase your overall wellbeing. It also helps to reduce anxiety, depression, and stress. It can also be beneficial for your immune system.

You should take some time to find a spiritual practice that suits you. You can meditate alone or with a group. The activities you do can include praying, journaling, yoga, or attending religious services.

A daily spiritual experience can help reduce stress and decrease feelings of depression. In addition, practicing mindfulness can help you stay focused during stressful situations. If you have trouble practicing mindfulness, start by making a list of everything you are grateful for.

Spending time in nature is another way to improve spiritual health. Taking a walk in the woods or a walk through a nature trail can help you to disconnect from your everyday life.

What is Lucid Dreaming?

9/9/2022

Lucid dreaming is the process of being aware of one's surroundings while dreaming. For most people, when they dream during sleeping, they do not have any control over what they dream or their actions within the dream.

The goal of lucid dreaming is to become aware of your dreaming during REM sleep.

One way to learn to be more aware of your dreams is to write them down. A dream journal allows you to write down what you dreamt about every morning. It also allows you to write down details of your dreams if you can remember them.
In addition to writing down your dreams, you can also identify certain dream patterns that can help you in lucid dreaming. Over time, you will become more aware of your dreams and more prone to lucid dreaming.

There are also certain practices one can take up to get more attuned to one's dreams and their content. The first step ofcourse is to be able to maintain awareness while one is dreaming.

Having control over your dreams is one of the most intriguing aspects of lucid dreaming. This technique can help you achieve incredible feats - you can fly without anyone seeing you, have sex with movie stars, rob Fort Knox, and more. You can do things that you cannot do in real life, like talking to animals and being someone else! If you have the proper training and mindset, lucid dreaming can help you to have some amazing experiences!

Research on lucid dreaming has shown that the brain region responsible for self-reflexive and creative activities is involved in lucid dreaming. In fact, it has been shown that lucid dreaming may help people deal with traumatic experiences in their past and work towards improving their quality of life.
Another benefit of lucid dreaming is that it can help people with anxiety and stress. Lucid dreaming can also help with enhancing one's creativity.

Additionally, lucid dreaming has been shown to help people with depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. It is not safe for everyone, and a qualified doctor must help you decide if lucid dreaming is for you.

Some lucid dreamers even use this technique as part of their therapy sessions.

By proper training in Lucid Dreaming, a person is not only aware that they are dreaming (instead of the usual unawareness) but many a times they are able to steer the course of the dream. Some lucid dreamers are even able to control what they dream, when they dream and what are all the finer details of their dreams- including the participants and their actions within the dream.

Although lucid dreaming is on the fringe of science. Traditional it has been attributed to the realm of mystics, New Agers, and poets. But slowly the medical community is looking into this practice and bring more clarity and science to this otherwise fuzzy world of lucid dreaming.

What is Mindfulness? This is how Mindfulness can benefit your mental health...

8/30/2022

What is mindfulness? Simply put, mindfulness is the practice of bringing awareness to the present moment. Mindfulness can be practiced throughout the day. If you find that you tend to ruminate, mindfulness can break that pattern by bringing you back to the present moment.
Practicing mindfulness can help you create a mental space that is free of thoughts. Here are some ways to start practicing mindfulness. Listed below are some of the key steps to get started.

Practice of mindfulness has many benefits. It helps people become more aware of the present moment and understand the patterns of their thoughts.

Through this, they can detect mental health problems early and respond to them positively.
By practicing mindfulness, people can achieve peace in their bodies and reduce the amount of stress they experience. While it may seem complicated, it is possible to find the right mindfulness technique for you. It is important to try it out for yourself to see how it can improve your life.

Mindfulness has been linked to a variety of practices. Walking, for example, requires paying attention to your body and your emotions. This practice requires you to be fully present, allowing you to experience each step of the way. You also have to become more aware of your surroundings. This is a great exercise for developing mindfulness, which is a crucial element for achieving happiness. However, it is important to note that it takes time to practice mindfulness.

One of the easiest ways to practice mindfulness is to focus on your breath. You can try to meditate with your attention focused on your breath for 5 minutes every day. You can also practice mindfulness while eating, walking, or exercising.

Try to observe the environment in a new way. You may find it difficult to practice mindfulness at first. However, practice will pay off when you start seeing things in a different way. There is no reason not to try.

In short, mindfulness is the practice of focusing your awareness on the present moment. It involves focusing on the present moment, without judging the situation.

This practice helps people deal with difficult emotions and sleep better. It is also helpful in our day-to-day lives, from work to relationships. It will improve your overall well-being. But, for the most part, it's a practice that you can start doing today.

The most basic form of mindfulness meditation involves sitting in a comfortable position and focusing on something. An example is your breathing. You can breathe normally and focus on your breath, or you can even close your eyes. Try to notice each breath, paying attention to the sensations in your body. Try not to judge or obsess over your thoughts. Then, you can continue practicing until you feel completely calm and centered.

While some mindfulness techniques may help you cope with stress and anxiety, some of these exercises may worsen symptoms of PTSD.
For instance, if you suffer from depression, mindfulness exercises may trigger flashbacks or intense emotions, or even dissociation.

Before beginning any mindfulness exercises (particularly to address specific issues), talk to your doctor as well as a trained mindfulness practitioner to make sure that you are correctly  practicing mindfulness in conjunction with any medical treatment.

If you have any existing mental health concerns then it is best to consider a structured program with the help of a qualified mental health professional.

How to develop mindfulness?

8/23/2022

Practicing mindfulness is a powerful tool that can help you focus your attention and manage stress. The practice can also help you think about your worries more productively, enabling you to gain insight and develop problem-solving skills. This article will provide you with some tips to help you develop mindfulness in your daily life. It also includes a few exercises that you can try. The key is to find a method that suits you.
One of the best ways to practice mindfulness is to check in with yourself.

Mindfulness is a practice that involves awareness and self-compassion. It involves pausing during your day to ask yourself how you are feeling and do something nurturing for yourself.

Whether that is taking a few deep breaths or drinking a glass of water, it is important to take care of yourself so that you can feel happy and content.
Other benefits of developing mindfulness include lower blood pressure, better sleep, and increased energy. Mindfulness has been shown to improve relationships and decrease the symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Developing mindfulness can even help people with chronic pain and improve their overall health. However, seeing these benefits in an evident manner can take time. So it is best to practice mindfulness regularly with calm patience (which actually by itself, helps to develop proper mindfulness).

The sooner you start with mindful-living, the better. And remember that mindfulness takes time. It is important to practice patience and consistency so that you can reap the benefits in due time.

One of the most important aspects of developing mindfulness is learning to be present and mindful throughout your day in every aspect of your life. This will allow you to enjoy your life more.

Being aware of every experience is the key to developing mindfulness. It can be applied to anything, from eating a meal to walking a stroll, to watching a show or listening to a conversation. It requires you to be fully present in the scenario, in order to fully engage in the process. The benefits of being mindful are truly far-reaching.

First, practice is essential. Mindfulness is a practice, and it takes time. Just as you would not lose weight by eating healthy food for just a few days, similarly developing mindfulness takes time. You need to create a daily habit of practicing mindfulness.
By practicing mindfulness, you can learn to recognize internal and external factors that inhibit a community from operating as a cohesive whole. When you have mindfulness in your life, you can bring group strife to a resolution.

You can recognize and resolve personal agendas, and you can also help to bring a consensus with others.

As we know, learning to play an instrument or language takes time. It is a process to learn a new skill.
Likewise, developing mindfulness is a process. The goal of starting and developing a mindfulness program is to teach you to become aware of your thoughts and actions on a continuing basis, in every aspect of your life.

By practicing mindfulness, you will become more attuned to your feelings and avoid anxiety.

Practice asking more questions, such as "what is causing me to feel anxious?" or "should I avoid this stressful environment?" Rather than focusing on fighting anxiety, you can focus your energy on understanding what is happening.

Practicing mindfulness can also benefit your overall brain health. You will be more aware and have more clarity in all areas of your life. The practice of mindfulness can also help you to make better decisions and choices.

What is meditation and how practicing meditation can help you?

11/8/2021

Meditation is a practice that involves focusing one's attention on one object, thought or activity. This allows for a person to become mentally clear, emotionally stable, and calm. The word meditation comes from the root word- ‘medi’ indicating median or center. So basically, meditation allows you to center and stabilize at all levels- physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

Many religious traditions have some form of meditation practices. Meditation (dhyana), which is the earliest recorded form of meditation, can be found in ancient Hindu texts called the Vedas. You can check out Vedic Ways to learn more about this wise ancient culture.

Meditation plays an important role in both Hindu as well as Buddhist contemplative repertoires. Mediation allows one to traverse beyond the usual mental noise to reach a state of calm where, one can truly hear their inner calling… it is an inner space where one can listen to the soul-urge and divine guidance. Meditation is the foundation of any real spiritual practice.
Picture
In addition, meditation can also provide many health benefits. As mentioned above, a good meditation technique can help you to stabilize and center within your inner being. It can help you to explore the various levels of your emotional and mental levels to reach the depths of your true inner core. Because of this, meditation can have life-changing effects on your spiritual, physical, and mental health.

Though sitting meditation is probably the widest practiced method, one can also conduct walking or activity-based meditation such as meditative- painting or knitting.

It has been found that folks who regularly practice meditative methods tend to have lower stress levels, experience less anxiety or depression, and tend to experience more joy and vibrancy for life. Meditation has been shown to improve a person’s sense of inner peace, perception and their concept of self-worth and wellbeing.

There are many ways to meditate, and many schools of mediation. It is now easier than ever for you to find the right practice that works for you. You can listen to guided meditations, podcasts, live streams or watch a video about how to meditate.

In today’s tech-savvy world, you can even download an app which can help you to navigate thru the various steps of a meditation technique. Given our constant involvement with technology and technical devices, there are many times where these very devices are a cause of our physical stress. So, if you choose to use an app to help you during meditation, then do maintain caution to ensure that you are not distracted by the bright screen, notifications and so on.

As you progress with your meditation practice, you will find that it intuitively starts to connect you to deeper layers of your inner being. This is a slow and steady route and so it is important that one sticks with a chosen meditation technique. Do not jump from one method to another… instead work on bettering the technique or method you have chosen. Work on evolving the method and moulding it to your individual internal makeup and requirements.

What is needed to obtain all these benefits is the willingness to start a meditation practice and then have the discipline to continue with the method. As you do meditation on a regular basis, you will start to observe slow steady improvements in your health, vitality, and overall life experience.

In the Vedic texts, we have what are called “Maha Vaakya”. Maha means great and Vaakya means statement. So, literally it means great statement. What they hold are simple phrases which have great wisdom within them.

These "Maha Vaakyas" hold true since time immemorial. If we were to consider this from a more modern perspective, then we could think of them as aphorisms which have amazing wisdom- that are expressed in a few simple words.

These Maha Vaakyas s are considered so powerful and potent that it is said that one could merely meditate on the wisdom of these sentences and attain deeper spiritual understanding on the inner workings of oneself and ultimately understand the workings of the entire universe- the cosmos!!

Picture
There are many such Maha Vaakyas, one such famous one being- Aham Brahmasmi. This concept of Maha Vaakyas is not limited to the Vedic era- there are many modern-day aphorisms which have deeper meaning such as “As above, So below”.

Any spiritual aspirant should really endeavor to meditate and reflect on these powerful statements. This will allow them a deeper understanding of the mysteries of life and the ways of the Divine.

Living our life from "Our Center"- conducting our life as a "living meditation"

Categories: Conscious Living, Guidance, Journey To Oneness, Meditation, Self Development and Yoga

We tend to think of fortune as a wheel. We also tend to think of time as a wheel. The reason being, we are all very familiar with the cyclical nature of time and aware of its ups and downs. But, what we do not realize is that though various part of the wheel goes up or down as the wheel moves, the center of the wheel is always stationary.

It moves from one place to the other- BUT does not experience the “up-s and down-s” and does not feel the turbulence that the rest of the wheel experiences.
Though negative turbulence seems to create imbalance, strongly positive situations can also many a times make us feel imbalanced.

Have you noticed how winning an award or praise can make you re-live that in your memory and then ‘puff you up” with pride. And while you are feeling prideful, your attention gets diverted and instead of focusing on the task that brought you recognition in the first place, you tend to overlook some crucial aspect and then fall from grace!

Center yourself and live your life from this center. The word meditation comes from ‘medi’ which means center.  When we live life from our center, we are constantly in meditation- even while being fully active and conducting various tasks.
Picture
Living our life from "Our Center"- conducting our life as a "living meditation"
This is what Yoga is all about.

It is not just simply twisting and turning your body into impossible shapes but to center yourself in such a way that you can be doing the most mundane or profound thing in your life, but you feel centered and while you are conducting your day as a “living meditation”, you feel truly alive and connected not just with your surrounding but with all of nature and all of life itself.

Then you experience Yoga. Yoga is not about doing something, it is about a way of being- being in union. Unison with all and everything.
