​When a badger appears in your life, you are being led to use your healing abilities. The badger is highly protective of its home and will attack if you cross a line. Working with the Badger spirit animal will allow you to take a better look into your own lineage and work with the genetic wisdom which you have inherited thru your individual legacy. Your badger spirit animal can also help you develop the skills to overcome obstacles.

A badger, burrows deep and seems to be working alone and away from the crowd and at the same time, it can also quickly come out of the burrow when needed- indicating that though you may need to work with concentration, in solitude, you should be flexible to reach out to other people when needed. 

​The badger totem can help you manifest things in your life that embody the qualities of this animal. You may develop an interest in plants and nature in general. Your passion for a certain activity will also increase. Likewise, you may become more adventurous. You may even want to take up gardening. This spirit animal can help you achieve your goals with a strong, focused mind. 

Even the most difficult obstacles can be overcome with a proper attitude. Therefore, we should never lose hope. The Badger is the animal of transformation. It has powerful jaws and can dig deep to find flaws that are not apparent or easily known. Badger typically follows all the rules and laws- by following them, it ensures that even though it may feel at a disadvantage in a given situation, ultimately justice will be done. 

Badger shows us that till we are doing correct things, in a correct manner, not just from a legal perspective, but by the laws of humanity- i.e. our actions seek are in the greater good of everyone involved, then in the short run, life may seem tough, but ultimately we are sure to be victorious.

Place the Runes in a cloth pouch and shake them. Then take out one Rune from the pouch. You must ensure that the Rune is not inverted after it has been pulled out.

This Rune will give you the key to your current situation or the fundamental answer to your question.

B. Three Rune Spread 
Place the Runes in a cloth pouch and shake them. Draw three Runes and place them in front of you in a horizontal row. 
The positions are interpreted from the left to right.   They represent: 

1. You, at the current time. I.e., how you are feeling in general as well as with respect to the situation/question being asked.
2. The Challenge ahead, and 
3. Your Best Outcome. 

Interpret the Runes by reading them, as per how they are positioned in the reading. 
 

C. Runic Cross 
Place the Runes in a cloth pouch. Shake the pouch and draw out six Runes. Place them in the order mentioned below. 

1. Place the first Rune at the center of your workspace. This is your current position.
2. Place the second Rune to the left side of the first Rune. This is your past.
3. Place the third Rune to the right side of the first Rune. This Rune represents the future.
4. The fourth Rune should be placed below the first Rune. This Rune represents the foundation of the situation/question.
5. The fifth Rune is placed above the first Rune. This Rune represents the challenge that lies ahead.
6. The sixth Rune is placed above the fifth Rune. It shows the best possible outcome of the situation/question.

 

D. Three Life Spread
This spread can be used to explore past incarnations. There are five runes involved in this spread.  Place the Runes into a cloth pouch, and remove five of them, placing them in the following order.

1. The first Rune goes on the right side of you work area. This Rune represents your childhood and birth of your current life.
2. The second Rune is placed to the left. This Rune indicates your present.
3. The third Rune is placed to the left of the second. This Rune represents your future in this lifetime.
4. The fourth Rune is below the second Rune. This Rune indicates and reveals your past incarnation.
5. The fifth Rune goes above the second Rune.  This Rune indicates and reveals your next, i.e., future incarnation.  

Interpret the Runes in relation to their positions and relate them to what should be gained, i.e. what soul-lessons must be learnt from each incarnation.

Before the Germanic peoples in ancient Western Europe had a real alphabet, they used pictorial symbol to carve into stone their thoughts and ideas. These pictorial writings are the earliest known. They date back to around 1300 BC. These writings were likely to be related to Fertility and Sun cults. The signs included parts of the human body as well as weapons and animals.

Later, these picto-glyphs evolved into abstract glyphs composed of lines that resembled no particular objects. The names given to these glyphs indicate that there was power for those who could use them. These glyphs were known as Runes from the Gothic Runa meaning "a secret thing, a mystery."

Runemal (or the casting of Runes) was used to predict the future using the Runic letter, Runastafr. Runes could be inscribed on tools, weapons, and rocks as well as other personal items. The clergy also used Runes as an alternative to the Latin alphabet.

It is believed that Runes are derived from a northern Etruscan alphabet, which was used by Italic tribes of the Eastern Alps. These Runes may have been created by the Bohemians.

Runes have been used since the beginning to cast lots and to invoke higher powers that could influence man's luck. Runes could influence the weather, harvest, tides, love, healing, and curses.

Traditionally, it was easy to identify the ‘Practitioner of Runemal’ by their clothing. According to the 13th-century author of the "Saga of Erik the Red", she wore a cloak with stones at the hem. A hood with white catskins was wrapped around her neck, covering her head. She carried in one hand a staff that had a knob at the end. On her belt she held her long gown and a charm pouch. This passage also shows that many Rune Masters were women. The Runes became more standardized throughout Europe as time passed.

In some areas, the Runes could be as many as 36 or as small as 16. These were the basic Runes or futhark, which comprised 24 of them. Futhark is derived from the first six Runes. There were three families each of eight Runes, each named after the Norse Gods Hagal, Freyr and Tyr.

These three aettir, as they were called were:

• Freyr's Eight: Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raido, Kano, Gebo, Wunjo 
• Hagal's Eight: Hagalaz, Nauthiz, Isa, Jera, Eihwaz, Perth, Algiz, Sowelu 
• Tyr's Eight:   Teiwaz, Berkana, Ehwaz, Mannaz, Laguz, Inguz, Othila, Dagaz.

Anglo-Saxons are often credited with spreading Runes and Runecraft throughout Europe. It is regrettable that the Rune Masters, who died more than 300 years ago, took with them the true art and craft of Rune casting. Though in our modern times, Ralph Blum, a retired Rune Master, has been trying to reinstate this ancient art. He has researched into old books and manuscripts to find Rune references and revive this ancient Gothic tradition.

​To get an iChing reading, you need to throw three coins or six yard sticks and note how they fall. It can give you a Yang or Yin depending on how the coins fall. A male line or a Yin i.e. Female line. A yang line can be drawn straight and a broken yin line can be drawn. 

Six times, the coins or sticks will be thrown and then the yang/yin line is drawn from base up. I.e. The first line is drawn at bottom. Next, the second line is drawn above it. Six such tosses would produce a diagram that has six lines. This is known as a hexagram.

​iChing utilizes the concept of energy around a situation using the principles of the Tao Te Ching, a classic Chinese text that was written by Lao Tzu, a famous Chinese Taoist philosopher.

iChing is one the oldest methods of divination in the world. It is based on The Book of Changes, an ancient Chinese book that explains iChing. The book is believed to be written by Fu Hsi, the Chinese Emperor (2953-2838 B.C.). It was edited later by many people to create the current version of this ancient text. Some believe that iChing is directly a result of the Tao Te Ching. They give credit to Lao Tzu, who they consider to be its creator. iChing also uses the concept of elemental energy, their compatibility and dis-compatibility, giving rise to indications about a situation.

​The three tri-grams that make up an iChing hexagram, which are explained below, are called the tri-grams. Each tri-gram, i.e. Each tri-gram (i.e., a set of three lines) represents the elemental energy. These are the eight possible tri-grams:

• Heaven
• Thunder
• Water
• Mountain
• Earth
• Wind
• Fire
• Lake​

Many people wonder why I don’t do any “predictive” forecasts. That is because I believe that “predictions” do not really work for anyone who is on a true self-evolving or spiritual path.
 
Now let’s see, if someone had a very keen sense of observation and/or some innate ability to read another person’s mind (psychic) even then at best they could accurately narrate your past. But future- well that is completely another ball game! It has yet to happen- so how can anyone guess it??

Even Quantum Science and other theories suggest that there are definitely energy-potentialities that surround us. These energies do shape how and what we experience, but unless one is to “observe” it- the outcome is “undecided”. I.e. if you are not there experiencing it, then what outcome you “could have” experienced cannot be determined.

Then what about all those wonderful psychics and other folks who seem to do a perfect job of “predicting events”? Well to explain this- let us consider an example: let’s say you grab some takeout food from a nearby diner. Now let’s say, this place serves fresh foods cooked with healthy ingredients (I know it's hard to imagine that with a typical diner… but still try :-)).

So, you eat this meal- now, is it difficult to predict that you will feel good, your body will receive good nutrition etc.? Not really- since you performed the actions, which increased the probability of that outcome from myriad other possibilities. BUT now let’s suppose this diner does not serve good food and/or you are a celiac and ended up eating something with gluten in it- now again, is it difficult to predict the outcome? Not at all- since your actions (however consciously conducted or not) somewhere determined what the outcome will be in that scenario.
 
Ofcourse life is even more complicated than our simple takeout dinner example. In our simple example, we are not considering other folks and your ongoing interaction with them or the uniqueness of your own body and health. But even with this example it is fairly evident that our actions do in a strong way determine what can happen in any given situation. This is not only a Quantum Scientific fact but also the basis of Karma Theory.

Now- repeated and past karmic patterns (still called karma in the west, though the correct term is samskaras) do have their influence and because of this some outcomes are “always more probable” than some others. Why just psychics, but even good trend-evaluators do such “predictive forecasts” each week- from a person’s future, to what can be expected within an industry, the financial markets and sometimes even within a particular geographical location like a city, town or a country!
 
But think for a second- as a conscious evolving person, would you rather fatalistically accept an outcome or would you rather understand the energies that are underlying any given scenario- be it your own life or the collective consciousness. When you understand the energies that are effective in any particular day or at any particular time, it gives you a good premise to work with.
 
Seeds sown in the dead of winter are doomed to not flower, while seeds sown during spring and cared for with proper light and nutrition are bound to thrive- similarly our actions when they are in accordance with the general premise as well as incorporates self-evaluation and self-evolution through learning our own individual lessons, we rise ourselves above any typically fated outcomes. This way we allow ourselves to live not only as our highest selves but also as truly conscious living beings.
 
Creating our highest self each day by constantly evolving ourselves into our own higher version.

​In ancient times, divination was used as a way to understand what kind of energies surrounded a certain situation. Almost like the current day weather report! As we know all days are not the same. Certain days just seem to go smooth where things seem to flow in a nice manner and there are other days where getting even the simplest thing done seems like a big achievement! 

So now, if we knew about these energies, then we could better plan our day and conduct activities which are best suited those times- i.e. those activities where we can accomplish the most if conducted during those times.

It is important to note that  we live in a dynamic and living Universe, which responds to our actions and accordingly brings situations and transformations in our life! 

Because of this, it is nice to utilize these various oracle and divination techniques to find out about the energies surrounding a situation, BUT do not try to   find about the future as an outcome, since the future-outcome is something that will reveal itself in due time. Our  job is to do our best  in any given situation and utilize the various tools  (including divination) towards it.
