Narasimha (also written as Narsimha) Jayanti is celebrated as the day on which Lord Narasimha, which is the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu appeared on earth. He appeared to kill the demon- Hiranyakashapu.
It falls on the fourteenth day during Vaishakha Shukla paksha- i.e. it is the Vaishakha Shukla Chaturdashi.

Note: Vaishakha is the second month of the Hindu lunar calendar. Shukla is the bright waxing phase of the moon and Chaturdashi tithi is the 14th day.
