Lutein is one of the best supplements to take in order to prevent macular degeneration. It has been recommended for people of older 50 to take lutein supplements to ward it off. Lutein can also be part of a regular diet through dark leafy vegetables and works well because it boosts macula pigmentation. It is suggested that five servings of green vegetables weekly is the optimal amount.
The amino acid called Taurine is also beneficial in promoting tissue repair. The recommended daily intake of Taurine is 500 milligrams. Free radicals are known as a common cause for deterioration and damage to cells. Antioxidants such zinc, Vitamin C and E help the body fight free radical damages. Other supplements worth taking for healthy eyesight include vitamin C and multivitamins.
It is necessary to keep your body working well by eating high quality foods that keep cholesterol levels low. Smoking is directly linked to the defectiveness of multivitamins and do not help prevent macular degeneration. Caffeine, alcohol and sun damage are also contributors to macular degeneration. | |
