In some cultures, a charm stone is a good luck talisman. It can be a gemstone, a crystal, a pebble or a rock of some mineral origin, that is believed to have special healing, mystical or at times even paranormal abilities or energy. It is said that President Roosevelt and Napoleon both wore charmstones on their jackets to help them in battle. Charmstones are also worn as inspirational charms by many people. In fact, you can find many historical charmstones displayed in different museums throughout the world.
We find that charm stones came in various shapes and sizes… and also as different articles. They were embedded in a piece of jewelry like a pendant or a ring that someone could wear, or set in breast-plate or body armor, particularly for the army men and other warriors.
Sometimes these charm stones were carried around by the individual in their pocket to imbibe their positive energies and at other times, they were displayed it in their immediate environment like their home or work area.
A popular stone for lucky charms is amethyst, which helps us manifest our dreams and achieve our goals. It is a powerful amulet with strong psychic effects.
Another powerful charmstone that has been used over the years, is the moonstone. It is a very feminine stone and its milky luster is reminiscent of the moon light. It was considered as a very nurturing and protective stone, particularly while traveling thru the rough seas. So, it was a favorite stone for sailors and travelers. This stone was also used as a protective amulet.
Another famous traditional charmstone is lapis lazuli. The dreamy blue color of lapis lazuli has made this stone the perfect choice for a charmstone. However, it can be a bit delicate, so it should be handled with care.
Lapis Lazuli is believed to have many benefits in crystal therapy, but when used as a charmstone, the deep blue color with flecks of gold is supposed to induce a soothing and calming effect. It is also considered an excellent aid in achieving mental clarity and removing negativity.
Lapis lazuli is also believed to surround a person with positive vibrations, thus possibly helping to bring about an emotional balance by warding off depressive tendencies. A lapis lazuli charmstone is believed to reduce hopelessness in a person and to make the wearer feel more positive and optimistic about themselves and their life-situation.
Though it is believed that charm stones utilize the positive beneficial energies of various crystals, we cannot state this conclusively!
We find that many a times, a particular charm stone has a certain effect on one individual but may/not have a similar effect on another person. Because of this, there are many people who believe that charm stones do not have any intrinsic positive vibrations of their own, but are effective because of the wearer's 'belief'… displaying a placebo-effect… to bring about their desired outcomes. It is possible that there is some truth to such line of thinking.
As individuals, we are seeking good, positive experience in our life and in this regard, if a particular crystal or stone can make us feel good, help us feel positive and hopeful, then why not benefit from their positive presence in our life?
Till we are aware that like any other external tool, such charm stones are a temporary prop to help us on our life-path and our spiritual journey, then we can consciously and with complete awareness utilize their help, while simultaneously working on our inner being.
Because ultimately, we need to enhance our inner self and raise our consciousness-level, so that we can experience ascension to higher states of existence.
