It is a method that is sometimes called “psychological acupressure”. This is because it helps by removing blocks in our system of energy, which is the reason that negative feelings, such as discomfort, arise. When the energy system within our bodies is blocked, we have a hard time dealing with emotions and this often prohibits life from continuing in a joyful manner for a certain period of time.
In order to remove blockages and restore balance in the system, EFT uses techniques that involve the use of the tips of fingers instead of needles. The fingertips are meant to “tap” at certain points of our meridians of energy, which are located just below our skin surface. The treatment is mostly painless and is not invasive in any way.
These methods were introduced in the 90’s by Gary Craig and have taken off with practitioners, therapists and individuals all over the world. It is a powerful and effective method of self-healing that gives the power to the individuals that are willing to learn the techniques.
EFT starts by asking the healer to picture and define unconstructive issues or emotions that may be the cause of pain or issues. They are then asked to choose a number between 0 and 10 to describe the intensity of the problem, with 10 being the worst.
