It is easy to keep your brain healthy by eating the proper herbs and foods. Adding these items to your daily diet can help maintain the health of our brains and even our memory. It is commonly known that foods which are rich in omega-3’s and antioxidants are vital for keeping our brain happy. ​
Walnuts, which ironically look like small brains, are one of the healthiest food options for improving your brain health. These nuts are very rich in antioxidants, that also help slow the process of aging.

The reason antioxidants are so beneficial to our brains and bodies is that they fight against damage caused by free radicals.

​Simply eating a handful on a daily basis can help improve memory and increase neuron activity.
It is no secret that fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Regular consumption of fish such as salmon, sardines and trout can help reduce effects of aging. Another alternative is to take fish oil capsules. Berries, such as blueberries, are high in antioxidants and can maintain ones memory. 
 
Carrots are not just good for our vision but our brains as well. Luteolin, which is found in carrots, prevent brain inflammation and memory deficiency. Other foods with rich luteolin levels include celery and peppers.  Olive oil happens to have luteolin, polyphenols and fatty acids. 
 
No more than a cup of coffee can increase your brain’s ability to function as well as give you a productive buzz. The same goes for tea. Snacking on nuts and seeds is another way to ensure your brain is getting the beneficial properties it needs to function optimally.
 
Herbs have long been used to help improve brainpower and memory. Gingko biloba is a herbal supplement that is high in antioxidants and increases oxygen productivity, metabolism and blood. It has a history of being used to help those who suffer from stroke, dementia and signs of memory loss. 
 
Another brain boosting herb is gotu kola. Originally used in India, this herb has many beneficial properties such as phosphorus, calcium and amino acids that help prevent and aid fatigue, amnesia and dementia. 
It is refreshing for the nerves and cells in the brain as well.

​An excellent herb for improving memory is rosemary. It is loaded with antioxidants and gives a boost in levels of energy as well.

​Bacopa, or Brahmi, is excellent for improving various parts of brain function, significantly in memory storage. It also lowers brain stress and is often used in combination with meditation.
