​Cucumber is part of the gourd family. It is one of the most commonly grown vegetables in the world and grows throughout temperate regions.

​Cucumber is known as a health food because of its low fat and calorie content. It also has plenty of minerals and vitamins.

​Cucumber is a natural detoxifier since it has 96% water content. Its water content is healthier than regular water and aids the body in maintaining body temperature and staying hydrated.
Toxins are eliminated from the body when consuming cucumbers. The water present in cucumber has been known to eliminate kidney stones. It flushes out the entire system of waste build up. It helps the kidney function properly by stimulating urination.  
 
The water content, minerals and vitamins in cucumber make it an excellent source of skin care. Various skin care products such as facemasks tend to use cucumber because of its ascorbic and caffeic acids that help to reduce puffiness around the eyes. This is why cucumber slices placed on the eyelids are a common beauty ritual at spas and at home. 
 
Vitamins A, B and C in cucumber improve the immune system, boost energy and make the skin more radiant. Silicon, magnesium and potassium are minerals that help the skin as well. It can also be used to treat sunburn damage. Additionally, consuming cucumber helps relieve the body of heartburn.
 
Other digestive issues including gastritis, acidity and ulcers can be helped by consuming cucumber on a daily basis. Cucumber has plenty of dietary fibers that benefit the body by flushing out toxins within the digestive system and promoting a healthy digestive process. Consuming cucumbers daily is known as a cure for constipation. When eating cucumbers, proteins are digested properly due to the help of the Erepsin enzyme.
Cucumber has a high silica content that helps benefit hair and nails.

​Silica exists within the body’s connective tissues. Silica rich diets promote healthy hair, healthy bones, healthy joints, hair growth and keep nails from splitting. 

 
Secoisolariciresinol, lariciresinol and pinoresinol are lignans present in cucumbers that have been found to decrease the risk of cancer such as breast, ovarian, prostate and uterine cancer. 
The high magnesium, potassium and fiber content in cucumbers is ideal for monitoring blood pressure and helps cases of both low and high blood pressure.
 
Cucumbers are also excellent for treating mouth and gum problems. Pyorrhea can be treated using cucumber juice due to dietary fiber. Photochemicals also kill mouth bacteria
