What is Shiatsu natural healing system?

Shiatsu is a type of body therapy treatment that originates from Japan. It uses techniques such as massaging, which involves pressing, kneading and stretching without the use of oil. Patients are required to wear loose-fitting and soft clothing. The direct translation for Shiatsu means pressure from the fingers. Shiatsu is a common therapy in Japan such as anma massage and acupuncture. 

It is excellent for lowering levels of stress and allowing the body to return to a tranquil state. It is used to help a number of problems and diseases. Shiatsu has been found to promote digestion, encourage skin renewal, lessen tension in muscles and have a beneficial impact on the nervous system. It is a common therapeutic procedure for headaches, migraines, stress, fatigue, anxiety and pain throughout the body. One tends to leave a Shiatsu session feeling rejuvenated and calm.

How do the principles and techniques of Shiatsu work?

Shiatsu uses a traditional concept in both Japanese and Chinese medicine known as Qi. It is the energy that flows through out bodies and everything around us. Within our body, qi passes through meridians. The meridians have points that Shiatsu focuses. If Qi is imbalanced in the body then diseases or illnesses start to arise. Shiatsu aims to rebalance and encourage healthy Qi flow. 

Therapists are able to tell when there is imbalance in the body before it is noticeable to the patient and restore it during a session. It is recommended to engage in sessions regularly in order to receive maximum benefits. It is not uncommon for Shiatsu therapists to suggest changes to your lifestyle such as habits or activities.

​What happens during a typical Shiatsu session?

When a Shiatsu session begins, the therapist will assess the patient to see if they notice any types of imbalances. The therapist will aim to evaluate how the Qi is in order to give the best treatment. The session then continues once the therapist knows how to best help your needs. If the Qi happens to be particularly low, then the therapist will use certain techniques to restore it. If the patient is stressed or has too much tension, the therapist will perform techniques to help remove the stress. 

Patients get the most out of Shiatsu if they have sessions regularly. This allows the therapist to help the patient maintain a healthy body and mind. It is common for Shiatsu patients to return once a month, while others with high levels of stress or other problems can benefit from more frequent sessions.
