Honoring the benefits of Yoga- celebrating International Yoga Day
United Nations General Assembly declared 21 June as International Yoga Day. In 2020, we will be celebrating the 6th. year of celebrating International Yoga Day.

21 June is the summer solstice. It is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It is believed to be the day, where Sun is shining at its brightest with total power- after all it is the longest day of the year (atleast for us folks in the Northern Hemisphere).

In many cultures and spiritual traditions this day of summer solstice has many spiritual significances. It is considered to symbolize the victory of light over darkness. So, it makes perfect sense that this day be chosen to represent the International Yoga Day.

After all, Yoga is not about bending, twisting, and turning… that is what gymnasts do!!
In Yoga- we seek unison with the Divine- our very inner essence. Ultimately this inner essence is also the larger Divine essence. When we do Yoga, we are seeking inner balance and peace. This further allows us not only to achieve great physical health and well-being, but it also allows us to feel an increased sense of joy and happiness.

Routinely practicing Yoga helps us to feel vibrantly alive.

If you already practice true Yoga (not acrobatics or gymnastics), then great- you can pat yourself on the back.   But, in case, you do not then why not make a pact with yourself on this occasion of International Yoga Day, that you will spend atleast a few minutes each day- doing simple yoga postures and breathing exercises.

This will be your commitment towards ensuring you have better health and vitality.

    Our Journey to "Oneness"

It is a journey and like all journeys, it is set with many moments of challenges and accomplishments.

But when one's heart is true and the decision is made to "be the best that one can be", then each challenge merely seems like a stepping stone, to be overcome to reach and experience new heights of existential living.

Hope you find these notes inspiring enough to initiate your own journey...
