I recently noticed that a certain famous researcher on water memory was called as a “pseudo scientist” by some Wikipedia writer. I am not quite sure, on what basis, the writer was choosing to use that label.
Having been trained as a scientist, I feel that, though we may not necessarily be able to validate a person’s exact work or findings (I am not familiar with that researcher’s background)- the results he has published over the years can surely be (and has been) replicated.
Also, we may not necessarily agree with his conclusions- but someone who performs a sequenced set of experimentation-steps which can then be replicated by another group of independent individuals- should not be given such a label.

Anyways- I do not agree with putting ‘labels’ on people, in the first place! Though I do understand that many a times, it is inevitable when we are providing our thoughts and opinions. But such thoughts and opinions should be clearly indicated as such.
As a writer, I feel that it is our silent honor-code, to ensure that we maintain proper and complete objectivity when we conduct our research, analysis, and evaluation of a person’s work and that we are indicating our findings in the most clear and conducive light. Particularly when we are speaking of a person- an individual with friends, family, colleagues, and most importantly personal feelings!!

Coming back to objective representation, ‘Replication of findings’, is one of the key aspects- that is evaluated to determine if something is a ‘true science’ or myth? I wonder, why the Wikipedia writers have ignored this important scientific evaluation criteria!
When one can independently replicate the findings by another person, then we need to stipulate that there is obviously some ‘truth’ in the matter- may be the theory or explanation provided by that person, could need further research, or the findings may be in-conclusive, but we cannot negate the existence of that finding- as it was verified by various independent sources.
Even when it comes to a researcher’s choice of words- which could be apparently very un-scientific, like “consciousness”!
We need to remember that even Theoretical Physicists have now found the “God particle” which is pretty much a quantum mechanical way to explain the existence of “consciousness”. I will try to write more about it in future posts…

Back during my Quantum study days, we used to have a joke among us- that back in the 60s when someone asked a Theoretical Physicist if he believed in God, that person would be offended and would say with revulsion- “What?? Ofcourse not!! I am a Theoretical Physicist”. And now in the 2000s when we ask a Theoretical Physicist, if he believed in God, that person would be surprised and say with comic disbelief- “Ofcourse I do!! I am a Theoretical Physicist”.
Before we put labels on things that we may/not understand or agree, it is important to keep in mind that we are never privy to all the information that there is to any topic or concept.
After all, even with all the information at our finger tips, we are still limited by what has been uncovered to date- and as we know, as ‘scientific’ research shows us- we are constantly finding and uncovering new facets of nature and our cosmic existence.
Before we put labels on things that we may/not understand or agree, it is important to keep in mind that we are never privy to all the information that there is to any topic or concept.
