Foods and Supplements for great pancreatic health- these foods and herbs will help to improve the functioning of your pancreas

​The pancreas is vital for developing the enzymes, which are essential in allowing our body’s digestion. Maintaining a healthy pancreas is possible by making good food choices and adding the essential herbs and foods to your diet. 
 
Vegetables are packed with minerals, nutrients, vitamins and chemicals that are necessary in keeping the pancreas healthy. Vegetables that are rich in antioxidants include brussel sprouts, spinach, cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage. Spinach also has vitamin B and iron, both of which are beneficial as well. Preparing the vegetables mentioned with onion or garlic (such as in a stir-fry) helps keep the pancreas healthy. 
​Fruits, like grapes, blueberries and cherries, are full of antioxidants. These antioxidants are great for eliminating toxins, which could lead to pancreatic cancer if they are not eliminated. Blending the fruits into juice form allows it to reach your digestive system quickly and easily, though eating them whole is just as beneficial when it comes to cancer-fighting properties. 

Most of the nutrients found in berries are actually located in the skin, which should be cleaned thoroughly before consumption. 
​Red grapes are unique berries since they contain an antioxidant called resveratrol, which is directly beneficial to the pancreas. Those with pancreatitis should steer clear of red wine but can load up on fresh grapes. 
 
Protein that is low in fat is easy to come by with tofu.  Pancreatic problems can form when there is an excess of fat in the body, though some protein is beneficial. Tofu can be found in a variety of dishes and even eaten as a dessert. Helpful bacteria that help ward off diseases and strengthen the immune system can be found in probiotic yoghurts. Yoghurt also stimulates the system of digestion and is beneficial to the pancreas. 
 
A certain type of mushroom, known as Red Rishi, acts as an anti-inflammatory and has similar beneficial properties as onions and garlic when it comes to a healthy pancreas. They are frequently used in Chinese medicine to moderate the body and keep it healthy. 
Healthy digestion is necessary for pancreas health and herbs that are useful in improving and maintaining a healthy digestive system include cinnamon and cayenne.

Other herbs that are beneficial to the pancreas include bilberry leaf, uva ursi, suma and gymnema, which helps maintain levels of blood sugar.

​Those with pancreatitis can digest herbs such as gooseberry, holy basil, green tea and grape seed extract to receive antioxidants.
