The kinds of food you choose to put into your body have a significant effect on the quality and condition of your teeth. Good teeth are free from problems such as cavities and decay, which are often caused by an excess of carbohydrates such as starch and sugar.

Fiber-rich foods are great for regulating the mouth and encouraging healthy saliva movement that keep acids from damaging your mouth. The best kinds of foods that are rich in fiber include vegetables, nuts, mushrooms and beans and help keep your teeth strong.
Foods that have simple sugar content like maltose, glucose, lactose and fructose break apart in the mouth instead of later in the digestive system and are therefore damaging to teeth.

Green vegetables that are leafy are full of valuable minerals, nutrients and vitamins that help keep your mouth healthy. Consider adding lots of leafy greens such as spinach, cabbage, kale, mustard greens and lettuce to your diet since they are all packed with vitamins such as A and C, phosphorus, magnesium, beta carotene and calcium.
Apples are a must have for clean, strong and healthy teeth. They are nature’s way of actually brushing the teeth as well since they remove plague and build up that develops on your teeth. Other fruits such as those of the citrus family, like pineapples, tangerines, oranges and grapefruit provide a good amount of vitamin C, which is beneficial to the teeth as well as a natural maintainer of gums.

To keep teeth strong you must have regular and beneficial intake of calcium, which helps enamel form and stay healthy. Too little calcium can lead to gum problems and weak teeth. Drink milk or eat yoghurt or cheese to give your body the required amount of calcium. If you are eating foods that are high in acidity, you can help prevent cavities from developing by consuming cheese soon after.

Anything that is crunchy, such as apples as we mentioned, are ideal snacks that help teeth as well. Carrots and celery are not only rich in antioxidants, minerals and vitamins but they also promote saliva flow, which stops plague from settling on the teeth.
Like all diets, it is important to have enough water per day and eating these crunchy vegetables, which have a lot of water, is excellent for cleaning the mouth.

Herbs that help keep the mouth and teeth strong include sage, myrrh, propolis, bloodroot and Echinacea. Coconut oil has been found to help keep the mouth clean and healthy, whether it is used as an oil puller, ingested or applied directly on the teeth.
