​Melons are full of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants that are essential to the body. They have a low calorie count and only have small amounts of fat and saturated fat. Melons are made up of around 95% water that is beneficial to our bodies. They help to alleviate heartburn, cool the body and rid kidneys of unhealthy residues. Melons include honeydew, cantaloupes and watermelon. 
 
The healthy properties of melons aid the prevention of a number of health problems including high blood pressure, cancers, heart disease, weak digestive systems and common colds. Each melon has a different list of nutrients that help with various health problems.

Honeydew melon is a sweet, green melon with large light brown seeds in the middle. The exterior of a honeydew melon is hard and pale in color. Honeydew melon is excellent for keeping hair, skin and weight healthy. These melons are also known for helping relieve the intensity of menstrual cramps, preventing dehydration, lowering high cholesterol and warding off certain diseases and cancers.
 
Nutrients in honeydew melon include vitamin C, natural sugar, water, fiber and protein. Only a few slices are necessary in order to benefit from the properties of honeydew.
 
Cantaloupes are round orange-yellow melons with big seeds in the middle. The exterior is rough and either brown or green in color. Cantaloupes are very sweet and are typically served cold. These melons have vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, carbohydrates, antioxidants, riboflavin, calcium, niacin, thiamine, iron and protein. 
 
Consuming cantaloupe aids against high blood pressure, weak digestive systems, inflammation and heart disease. They have anti-cancer properties that protect the body against cancers such as stomach, prostate and colon cancer. The abundance of fiber in cantaloupes helps regulate healthy weight and monitors levels of blood sugar. Just a couple slices of cantaloupe are enough to receive the associated health benefits.   
 
Watermelon is possibly the most commonly known form of melon. Watermelon is oval shaped with a green exterior and pinkish-red juicy center with small black seeds. The various nutrients in watermelon make it an ideal snack for healthy diets. The melon has vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin C, antioxidants, potassium, fiber, protein, carotenoids, thiamin and calcium. 
 
A few slices of watermelon daily can aid in the prevention of heart attacks, strokes, heart disease, loss of eye sight, digestive problems, hair loss and kidney infections. It also prevents cancers such as endometrial, colon, lung, breast and prostate cancers.
