Now, at an apparent level this can come across as just days indicated on our Hindu lunar calendar which we are to celebrate. But, if we are to look deeply, there is a symbolic meaning, which once understood, we can help us to benefit and better our life!!
Let us look into this…
Before we can understand the deeper nuances, we need to first understand the symbolic significance of Lord Vishnu. If you are not familiar with it, then you can read it here- Lord Vishnu- The Vedic Archetype of The Cosmic Sustainer.

Lord Narasimha got rid of the demonic energies of Hiranyakashapu- this symbolically indicates that the ego which believes that it is ‘immortal’ or that it can trick and continue on with its devious ways, will be dealt with by the Lord.
At an individual level, this churning symbolically represents the fruitioning of any particular karma from the conglomeration of all our karmas (the good and the bad).
He is not only someone who is very knowledgeable and wise but is also someone who constantly meditates on the name of Lord Vishnu. As we know, Sage Narada constantly chants another name of Lord Vishnu- Narayana.
And then, from full moon to the next new moon, is the time to let go- of all that is not needed or is obsolete in our life. It is the time to let go of anything that is harmful or distracting from our life-path, so that by the new moon, we can completely eliminate those toxins from our life.
This way, we will be prepared and ready to utilize the benefic energies of the next lunar cycle for our growth and betterment.
We can accomplish all our goals and desires if we are first and foremost stable within our own deeper self and are able to address our life with a balanced viewpoint.
And then the next step is devotion, so that we can obtain divine blessings and guidance to help us better understand our path and what we need to do at every juncture, for the best and most beneficial outcomes.
This way, if we are to bring the wisdom of these three days into our life- i.e. we first curb and curtail our ego, next we find balance in our life- internally within our self and also on the outside, i.e. in how we handle people and situations around us and then finally become a true devotee of the Divine. We have love and adoration for the divine… and this will then help us to truly uplift our life and achieve all the good things that our hearts desire.
Once we follow this tri-fold measure, then we will not only accomplish all our goals and ambition but feel joyful and happy as we are progressing along our life path.
So, particularly for these next three days and then going forward, utilize the wisdom of the lunar phases of the waxing and the waning moon as well as the blessings Lord Vishnu energy- the Cosmic- Sustainer Vedic Archetype to start a new way, a new approach to life.
