Grapefruit has those properties along with narigenin, which burns fat instead of keeping it. They also promote self-cleansing and can repair liver damage with regular consumption.
Walnuts are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, glutathione and an amino acid called l-arginine, all of which are beneficial to the liver by cleansing it of ammonia. These nuts also stimulate oxygenation.
A useful herb to promote a healthy liver is turmeric powder. Turmeric can also be consumed as a food. Either way, it helps ward off damage caused by toxins and replenishes cells that have been damaged. It encourages bile production and lowers inflammation within the liver as well.
Milk thistle keeps the liver protected from damaging toxins and promotes the growth and maintenance of cells. It is also regulates glutathione and stops the levels from reducing to a harmful level. Another herb with similar attributes to milk thistle is globe artichoke.
