This coming Saturday, i.e. on September 28, 2019, is Mahalaya Amavasya. It is a very important day to pay respect to our ancestors and express gratitude for the privilege of getting to be part of our particular lineage.
Many people may think that well, my lineage is nothing that ‘special’ or ‘well-known’. It does not need to be. Keep in mind that it is our material bent which gives importance to name, fame, wealth and so on. But the true science of being part of lineage (genetics and karma) goes much deeper than that!!
When your ancestors “allowed” you to be born in your family, somewhere they also provided you with the required life situations and experiences that were needed for your soul growth. THIS creates a very important Roon (also written as Rin) which is a type of karmic debt. Like all karmic debts, this ancestral Roon needs to be paid off.
It can be done in many ways, for e.g. by performing shraddha rituals on the annual death anniversary of your family members- particularly your parents and grandparents.
